HyNet is the UK’s leading industrial decarbonisation project. We are unlocking a low carbon future in the North West of England and North Wales – creating new roles, safeguarding existing jobs, growing a skills base and attracting investment into the region.

As part of the HyNet Carbon Capture and Storage infrastructure, we are progressing to the development of three carbon dioxide spur pipelines.

Runcorn community information event

The Runcorn Carbon Dioxide Spur Pipeline Proposed Development is part of a groundbreaking new project that aims to tackle carbon dioxide emissions and support economic growth in the North West of England and North Wales.

The Proposed Development would transport carbon dioxide from the Viridor Energy from Waste facility’s new carbon capture plant in Runcorn to be safely stored underground in Liverpool Bay.

It would connect to the HyNet Carbon Dioxide Pipeline, which is part of the HyNet North West Project.

Ahead of our consultation period, which is due to take place at the end of 2024, we are hosting a drop-in information event. The event will give you the opportunity to find out more about the Proposed Development, meet the project team and ask questions.
